I'm still engaged in the slow process of coloring the finale to the Dog's Days comic. But the good news is, it will be done and ready for June! Been in BC for about 3 months, and -finally- got my PC brought up for me this week, thanks to some very kind friends who were travelling in this direction anyway. So I was finally able to satisfy my need to paint. So I did. The past stretches out behind, but there's no looking back. Run with me awhile. The world should be in widescreen.

Here is the completed version of my secondary character, Ilani the Porcupine. Originally, I drew her rather angry looking, since she does have a short temper, however, she ended up looking rather amused. In the background you see Kahle Air Repair, which she owns. He has arrived in California! That little jalopy of his made it all the way from Michigan to California. Unfortunately, when it reached Hollywood, it literally fell apart. Harp believed that the only kind thing to do was to put it out of its misery, and then properly bury it in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale. It was a good little flivver, he will miss it. This pic is loosely based on a wonderful Buster Keaton photo: http://imdb.com/media/rm395745280/nm0000036 The Hollywood sign was originally a housing development advertisement for "Hollywoodland", built in 1923 (which was within Harp's time-frame of living). As the evening was winding down Wastrel asked me about my characters. Aside from my fursuit characters, there are the muck-type and "fursona" characters. Bunnell, my previous FM/fursona, a rabbit (1990-1995) Kohii, my temporary FM/fursona, a coyote (1995-1996) who got totally overshadowed by time Yippee Coyote arrived, in fursuit form. Saguaro is the little coyote, from 1992. I'd never tried drawing teeth on him. His tiny fangs are cute!

Crikey Duck Splash Page #1 by Ailurophile

At the end of the first story arc in Crikey Duck, Vicki and I collaborated on this splash page. We both worked on the layout, I did the pencils and the inks, and Vix did the coloring (with me nagging over her shoulder). Our process can be ridiculously collaborative sometimes. I've recently handed over pencilling duties to Vix entirely, to give me time to focus on writing for the comic and my freelancing, but I'm going to continue doing the splash pages. I like big nuts and a I cannot lie! This trade is for the incredibly talented Karri Aronen. His English is shaky and he needed the joke explained to him - but when he got it it slotted right in with his sense of humor, which, if you know him, is incredibly dodgy. I love the idea of a guy who draws this anachronistic adult stuff in the style of the cute old Disney comics from the 1940's.

Mordecai, Serafine and Nico. I hadn't done any proper color work with this group yet, so I decided to do a little poster-style illustration involving the three of them. That's not Serafine's usual getup - I suppose she can't pass up the opportunity to get dolled up for a special occasion, though. She's dressed as her personal version of a Voodoo mambo. The image was sketched in pencil and painted with a tablet and Photoshop.

This was a piece of gift art for Kattywampus over on Furaffinity. She gave me a link to an awesome site and I wanted to thank her for it with this. I had actually gone in intending to fully shade this piece, but for some reason, I just thought it looked better with flat colours. Probably because Kattywampus herself tends to colour her own pictures with flat, vibrant colours. While not one of my best TECHNICALLY, this is one of my favourite pictures because of the mood and theme.
